Past Perfect is a romantic and resonant first time feature film from Cape Breton born writer/director Daniel MacIvor.
Produced by Camelia Frieberg, with imX communications' Chris Zimmer as Executive Producer, Past Perfect is shooting in Halifax from November 19 - December 14, 2001. The film features Rebecca Jenkins (Black Harbour, South of Wawa, Bye Bye Blues), Maury Chaykin (Nero Wolfe, The Adjuster, The Sweet Hereafter). Marle Brassard (Polygraph, Le Confessional) and Daniel MacIvor (The Five Senses, Twitch City).
Past Perfect takes place on two days, two years apart. Charlotte (Rebecca Jenkins) and Cecil (Daniel McIvor) meet on a flight from Halifax to Vancouver and fall in love. One Saturday, two years later we see them again. They are now a couple, living together in Halifax and in the midst of a crisis. Where they imagined they'd be is not at all where they now find themselves. We see them struggle to understand that sometimes a "destination" can get in the way of a journey.
Writer/Director Daniel MacIvor is known for his critically acclaimed International stage hits In On It, Here Lies Henry and Monster. He has also been seen in Don McKellar's series Twitch City, Jeremy Podeswa's The Five Senses and Thom Fitzgerald's Beefcake.
Producer Camelia Frieberg's films (The Sweet Hereafter, The Five Senses, Exotica, The Adjuster, Eclipse and Masala) have won international recognition, including Oscar nominations and numerous awards from the Cannes Film Festival and Canada's Genie Awards.
Executive Producer Chris Zimmer's award-winning films include New Waterford Girl, Love and Death on Long Island, Margaret's Museum and most recently Una Cas con Vista al Mar.
Past Perfect continues in this tradition of prestigious Canadian feature films.
Past Perfect is part of a slate of five feature films created by imX communications entitled seats 3a&3c. The films will be shot on digital video and released on 35 mm and then distributed in Canada by Mongrel Media. Other filmmakers in the series include: Tricia Fish, Thom Fitzgerald, Andrea Dorfman and Rowen Woods.
